We regard our staff as our most important asset. They come from a wide variety of backgrounds and experiences and together make up a comprehensive team, who relate well to each other as well as to our clients.
The Pellows staff all consider it an honour and privilege to care for and support families at a time when they are most vulnerable. To them their job is a vocation from which they gain a deep sense of satisfaction.
Manager Beth Richards has been involved in the funeral industry since 1979 and began her career as a funeral organist. Beth is a qualified Funeral Director and has worked fulltime at Pellows for the over 21 years. Beth is married, to Dave and they have two grown-up sons and two grandsons. Away from work, Beth enjoys horse riding, music and gardening.
Mike is a family man who has previously served the community as a volunteer Ambulance Officer. He and his family enjoy a range of sports and more recently Mike has taken up motorbike riding Mike brings a wealth of people skills and life experience to his role as a Funeral Director.
Karen rejoined the Pellows Team in 2013 after a sojourn overseas. Karen and her husband Nick have been in Hamilton for 25 years involved in church leadership. She has a passion for helping people through her role as a funeral director and in her spare time enjoys keeping up with her five grandies.
Embalmer / Monumental Work
John joined the funeral industry in 2009 after serving as a Corps Officer in the Salvation Army. He has an Advanced Certificate in Alcohol and Drug Counselling. John is married to Beryl and they share their home with their daughter and two grandchildren. Outside of work, John’s interests include reading and making home improvements.
Funeral Director & Embalmer
Lance began his career in Christchurch as a Funeral Director’s Assistant, learning the profession under expert tuition and guidance. After qualifying as an embalmer, he left the profession to follow other career paths in Australia before returning to New Zealand and becoming a Funeral Director. In his spare time, Lance likes to spend time with family, enjoys a game of rugby and playing drums in Pipe Band competitions. Lance has appeared in the Edinburgh Military Tattoo and World Pipe Band championships in Glasgow where he has been a member of a title-winning band.
Nikki commenced her career as a Funeral Director in the UK before moving to New Zealand 10 years ago. More recently she has been raising her 2 children before coming to join the Pellows team.
Outside of work Nikki is involved with her children’s extra-curricular activities and also enjoys horse riding and all things equestrian.
Kirin has lived in Hamilton all of his life. Married to Erena, they have two children, whom they support in their many extra curricula activities. Kirin rides a motorbike and enjoys playing music with his friends.
Sandra has lived in Hamilton all her life. Being a people oriented person, she thoroughly enjoys her role as Administrator-Receptionist with Pellows and finds it most rewarding. Outside of her work, family – especially her two grandsons, gardening, cooking and entertaining fill Sandra’s life.
